The ULC is similar to the UL or Underwriters Laboratories in the United States. ULC monitoring is a standardized monitoring service that meets strict requirements set forth by the ULC.  The ULC sets rigorous standards for security including protocols for response, equipment redundancy, and staff training. 

The point of the ULC monitoring is that trained professionals have established and standardized protocols for how to react in case of emergency in order to have the best outcome for the business or environment being monitored.
